From Cowboys and Aliens to retro porn!?

Cowboys and Aliens has been a hell of a big break for the lovely Olivia Wilde.

It's one of the biggest movies to be released in the prime of the summer, and she's playing opposite Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, who at least one critic feels has put in his best performance in years.
From Cowboys and Aliens to retro porn!?And on Deadline, several fans posted on the site's Cowboys and Aliens coverage, "Olivia Wilde will be a movie star," and "The Katherine Ross of her generation."

So after a big hit like this, and also having major geek cred from being in Tron: Legacy (as well as being a voice in the Tron video game), the next career step is crucial, and she's currently up for a coveted role, but not coveted in the Meryl Streep kind of way.

A report has surfaced that Wilde is up to play the infamous, OG porn star, Linda Lovelace, who starred in the original blockbuster X-rated movie, Deep Throat.
As the documentary, Inside Deep Throat, has stated, Deep Throat was shot in six days for $25,000, and it reportedly made over $600 million. (Other reports put it more in the $100 million range, but maybe it's made more with home video and DVD.)

It was put out by a mob owned company, Bryanston, owned by siblings who went by the moniker "The Piranha Brothers," and Lovelace would later claim she was forced into it all by her svengali husband/manager Chuck Traynor.

This news was initially confusing because there's been more than one Linda Lovelace movie in the works. Kate Hudson was slated to play her before it was offered to Wilde, James Franco was offered the Chuck Traynor role, and Malin Akerman is also starring in another biopic of the porn legend, Inferno, and Akerman took over for Lindsay Lohan in the role. (Matt Dillon will play Chuck Traynor, and Sammy Davis Jr., who loved X rated flicks and knew Lovelace well, will be represented in the film as well.)

There was also a musical, Lovelace: The Rock Opera, created by Charlotte Caffey of The Go-Gos, and Anna Waronker, daughter of former Warner/Reprise presiedent Lenny Waronker.

Wilde told E!Online, "It would be a tremendous honor. It's such a cool role. She was a fascinating woman – with where she came from to Deep Throat to then working with Gloria Steinem and Nora Ephron. It's really fascinating."
Still, she added, "I'm being very careful about my next project since I'm now in a position where I can be really picky – thank God, finally."
