“Folks who want porn can buy an Android phone”

Steve Jobs at the WWDC 07Image via Wikipedia

  • Apple CEO Steve Jobs is on a roll. While he’s probably had better days than today, he’s lately been shooting off emails left and right in response to customers’ concerns. We just were sent what appears to be one such Jobs response, sent last week surrounding the whole Mark Fiore situation. And it’s a good one.

When questioned about Apple’s role as moral police in the App Store, Jobs responds that “we do believe we have a moral responsibility to keep porn off the iPhone.” Better, is what he said next: “Folks who want porn can buy and [sic] Android phone.
Last week, another Jobs email about the Fiore situation was published in which Jobs called the situation a “mistake.” He noted the same thing in this email, but the porn/Android link is the key here. Assuming this email is legit, this isn’t the first time Jobs has suggested users try Android if they want porn. Earlier this month, during a Q&A session after the iPhone 4.0 OS event, Jobs said:
You know, there’s a porn store for Android. You can download nothing but porn. You can download porn, your kids can download porn. That’s a place we don’t want to go – so we’re not going to go there.
This is noteworthy both because it’s funny, and because Apple and Google are in the early stages of a war that’s brewing between the iPhone and Google’s Android platform. Jobs is apparently going to keep taking these jabs from what he considers to be the moral high-ground.
Read the full back-and-forth below:
Matthew Browing, an Apple customer wrote the following to Jobs:
Steve,
I was converted to Apple products with the announcement of the iPhone 3G. (My friends have been trying to convince me for years.) Since then I’ve purchased 4 iPhones, 2 computers, several routers, and miscellaneous other items. Unfortunately, I’m really starting to have a philosophical issue with your company. It appears that more and more Apple is determining for it’s consumers what content they should be able to receive. For instance, the blocking of Mark Fiore’s comic app (due to being political satire) or blocking of what Apple considers to be porn.
I’m all for keeping porn out of kids hands. Heck – I’m all for ensuring that I don’t have to see it unless I want to. But… that’s what parental controls are for. Put these types of apps into categories and allow them to be blocked by their parents should they want to.
Apple’s role isn’t moral police – Apple’s role is to design and produce really cool gadgets that do what the consumer wants them to do.
Thanks for listening
-Matthew
In response, Jobs replied:
Fiore’s app will be in the store shortly. That was a mistake. However, we do believe we have a moral responsibility to keep porn off the iPhone. Folks who want porn can buy and Android phone.
Yes, Jobs apparently made a typo (and -> an), but we checked the IP headers on the email and they are legit. Of course, these can be faked, but it seems hard to believe that someone would go to all the work of sending us an email in which they changed all the IPs or manipulated all the time elements only to attach their real name and real email address to send it to us.
And no, the email doesn’t end with the usual “sent from my iPhone” or the new favorite, “sent from my iPad,” but again, looking at the header information, that’s because it was sent using Apple Mail. Jobs has been known to do this in the past (and recently) as well.

Blake Lively Topless Pictures

BREAKING NEWS: Purported Blake Lively Topless Pictures Fly Across the Net

Thank you many readers for alerting us to super sexy pictures racing across the Internet of somebody who looks remarkably and incredibly like a very nekkid Blake Lively snapping her own photos in a movie set trailer and perhaps a bathroom, looking all kinds of hot bodied and fully exposed. Who knows where these photos first appeared, or if they're really Blake Lively (though the resemblance is uncanny). With Green Lantern only a couple weeks away, does anybody find it mysterious that first Blake Lively is suddenly being 'spotted' with Leonardo DiCaprio leaving hotels with rumors of a secret tryst, and, now, these certain-to-cause-a-monster-stir pictures appear? Coincidence? Promotional stunt? Maybe, or hardly, or, maybe. We shall see. Enjoy.
(NEWS UPDATE: Celebuzz has an exclusive statement from Blake Lively's rep claiming the photos are fake.)

MO' UPDATES: Despite Blake's rep's earnest claims these photos are fake, readers are still sending in more images of 'physical evidence' than you see on a season's worth of CSI.  We'll run a few here and there.  Make of them what you will.

And there that iPhone is again. But Apple has sold millions of these phones.  In fact, a recent Nielsen study reported that 9.6% of all Americans who own a cell phone have an iPhone. Figure maybe a third use that black case, it's very popular, so maybe 1 in 30 people in this country have that same phone look. Hardly DNA-level conclusive given her reps' firm assertions that these photos are not Blake.
Now, this is just getting silly, but fun... An EgoReader on our Facebook page points out that our good buddy JustJared has photos of Blake Lively purchasing the Reach Design toothbrush which seems to be the same dental hygiene selection for the woman appearing in these nekkid photos. Still, Reach sells a ton of these types of brushes, so it's hardly even worth noting.
MO' MOLE UPDATES: Um, thanks, I think. Our office looks like a dermatology center here with all the tons of pictures of various skin bumps and moles and sunmarks you have all sent in that seemingly suggest that the nekkid women in these photos has very similar skin tags to Blake Lively. But, again, I'm sure several people on this planet share the same precise random skin moles and blotching across their faces and bodies, especially the fair-haired prone to exposing such conditions. This photographic body mapping process hardly overrides a firm denial from Blake's reps.

THQ Hiring Booth Babes On Craigslist

CBOSS girls. I'm not usually the kind of a per...Image via Wikipedia

Story from http://www.ripten.com/

More Booth babes Bellow!
Ah, the booth babe. An infamous position in the gaming industry held exclusively for attractive women who wish to be paid to stand around in skimpy outfits and smile suggestively.
In the past, booth babes have had their fair share of run-ins with horny nerds, but companies and models alike continue to trot out these booth babes in hopes of attracting said nerds to their game. And it usually works.
Which is why I guess it makes sense that THQ is hiring their own babes for an upcoming event they’re holding mid-June to promote two of their upcoming games, presumably WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011and Homefront. They’re specifically asking for 10 strong women and 10 Asian women to promote each game. I’d be surprised if there weren’t scantily-clad women at a wrestling promotion, but given what I know about Homefront, I can’t really imagine why they’d need babes for such an occasion.
If you’re interested, you can go shoot them an email with your information. However, if you apply, you should probably know that such models at such events have a history of being harassed. THQ failed to mention such a thing in the Craigslist listing, but if you don’t care, or are prepared to fend off hordes of testosterone, then by all means, go for it.
