What do you mean, it's closed every Sunday??

So, Sunday (Nov 22nd, if you're keeping track), Damon and I had a rocky start to our Sunday.

First, we woke up and our power went out. So, no hot water (couldn't get the pilot light lit to heat the water), so no shower, and no electricity.

Then, we were like, ok, let's go to brunch at that one place that looked like they have a good brunch. Get there, they're closed Sunday.

Ooo-k. So then, we think, fine, let's go food shopping at the Central Market and get stuff for dinner. And they're closed! And apparently, they've always been closed on Sundays. It seems we were traveling so much every single weekend, we never even noticed the market was closed every sunday.

(and there was a really gross pigeon who had a stump for a foot hanging around outside).

But, we ended up getting food elsewhere, we got the power situation back up and working, and all ended up happy : D

Old fashioned girl in jeans

Damon and I came across a crazy sight today- we were walking in the main part of Florence, when all of a sudden, we heard drums. Thinking it was a parade, we went over to the square and saw what basically was a Renaissance Faire-type recreation, complete with a drum corps and tons of people in Renaissance clothing. (of all times to have forgotten my camera! argh!)

It was really cool watching the drum/ color guard performance they gave- we must have missed the first part, because after that, they all seemed to pack up and leave pretty quickly... it appears they were helping the opening ceremonies for a weekend long New Olive Oil festival (where local olive oil producers come and sell the season's latest pressing of Olive Oil)...

Anyway there was this pretty girl who was hoisting her old fashioned Renaissance dress up since it was damp on the ground, and was wearing very fashionable jeans and boots underneath- it was a very funny paradox!

Tastes like the Renaissance...

I saw a dog happily licking the pavement / questionable piece of paper outside the Duomo today and thought it must be Renaissance flavored...

Venus

Inspired from Botticelli's "Birth of Venus"

(if you like this, stay tuned! I have a cleaned up version of her for sale!!)

Happy Anniversary!!!!

Damon and I celebrated our first year of being married back on November 16th by going out to the Florence Archeological museum (to see their awesome Etruscan collection) and out to a most lovely dinner!!!

Happy Anniversary my darling husband!!!
