Former adult film star Jenna Jameson isn't about to roll over in a Chicago-area breach-of-contract lawsuit.
Instead, she's asked the judge to lift a ruling against her so that she might mount a defense, although she apparently missed the legal deadline to respond to the lawsuit.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the plaintiff in the case -- a theater owner who claims Jameson stood him up on a book signing gig -- alleges that Jameson was served the lawsuit on May 24. The 30-day deadline to respond to the papers has come and gone, and neither Jameson nor an attorney showed up to her court date earlier this month.
But now, the Tribune reports, Jameson is asking that Judge Patrick Leston vacate the order of default he entered against her. She says that she needed extra time to find an attorney, and that she has a "meritorious" defense against the allegations.
Ted E.C. Bulthaup III, a suburban Chicago theater owner, had contracted Jameson to attend screenings of her 2008 movie "Zombie Strippers!" and sign her book, How to Make Love Like a Porn Star, at two of his theaters. Just before the gigs, according to the Chicago Sun-Times, she told Bulthaup that she had a vague "medical emergency" and wouldn't be able to make the dates.
On one of those cancelled days, though, Jameson appeared at Perez Hilton's glamorous "Blue Ball" birthday party -- not appearing to have much of a medical emergency:

London, June 22 : Singer Britney Spears surprised a male fan by giving him a lap dance during aconcert in Los Angeles.
The 29-year-old singer was performing "Leather and Lace" at the Staples Center in Los Angeles as part of her Femme Fatale tour when she performed the provocative dance for the fan. She even straddled his neck with her legs, reports femalefirst. co. uk.
Spears performed a similar dance on a surprised fan inSan Jose last week.

Victoria Secret supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whitely is set to make a steamy big screen debut alongside ShiaLaBeouf in this summer’s “Transformer’s 3.” The rising starlet replaced Hollywood bad girl Megan Fox, after Fox publicly badmouthed the film’s production crew, particularly director Michael Bay.
After Fox’s abrupt firing, the hunt for a replacement didn’t last long. Huntington-Whitely, 24, snagged the “Transformers” role by impressing director Michael Bay during a Victoria’s Secret photo shoot two years ago.
“Michael sent me a message saying, ‘We want you for the female lead, is that something you’d consider?’” the blond bombshell told Complex magazine. “I met Shia that evening, then a week later I was doing a screen test, and two weeks after that I was doing my first scene. So it happened really, really quick.”
Most recently, Rosie was named Maxim magazine’s “Hottest Woman of 2011.” Although she’s secured her status as a worldwide sex symbol, Rosie insists her rise to fame hasn’t gotten to her head just yet.

Already the host of "Chelsea Lately" and "After Lately" on E!, and the just-announced star of horror-comedy "Mall," Handler is heading to network TV; her sitcom pilot for NBC has just been optioned to series for next year.
MODESTO, CA - They're attractive young women in tight jeans, but with a pair of pink handcuffs stuffed in one pocket. When it comes to fighting crime, the Bail Babes are all business.
When they arrest a wanted fugitive, no one is more surprised than the guy who's going to jail.
"No one expects a cute little smiley, bubbly girl to be the one to slap some handcuffs on you," said Jessica, one of the Bail Babes. "They're so caught off guard that they just don't know what to do, other than follow directions."
Allie Hayes is a private investigator who runs Redemptions Bail Bonds in Modesto. And the Bail Babes are her secret weapon.
"I don't put them in harm's way, I would never do that," said Hayes. "The only thing that could ever possibly happen to these girls, in my mind, is they would break a nail. And for them, that's the worst thing that could happen."
The "war room" is where Allie and her Bail Babes plan the "cuff and stuff" of wanted fugitives. The team includes two private investigators, and Allie two son's who provide protection for the Bail Babes if it's need when they make an arrest.
The team is frequently hired by other bail bond companies to track down suspects who have jumped bail.
"There is no reason to go kick a door in," said Hayes. "They want to come out and play."
Hayes asked us not to reveal some of their most effective methods for tracking down suspects. But they know where and how to look. And sooner or later, the man they're after is bound to show up.
"If they show the slightest bit of interest in me, they've already taken the bait," said Jessica.
On one recent night, Jessica arranged to meet a man for dinner at a Modesto restaurant. The man was wanted for failing to appear in court, after posting $50,000 bail. He probably thought he was just hooking up with a new friend. In reality, it was the Bail Babes on the trail of another fugitive.
"We never go out alone," explained Jessica. "I feel extremely safe with ... the other few guys that do go with us. They blend into the crowd."
In several different vehicles, Allie Hayes, her two sons, the Bail Babes and a private investigator pulled into a dark parking lot near the restaurant. Staying out of sight, they quickly identified the suspect standing outside.
Jessica walked across the parking lot toward the suspect, but the other Bail Babes and Allie's son's Derek and Donny were close behind, pretending to be a group of friends arriving for dinner at the restaurant. When Jessica told the suspect he was being taken into custody, the young man attempted to run. Allie's sons quickly wrestled the man to the ground, put on the handcuffs, and drove him to the Stanislaus County Jail.
"I know that every time that I'm gearing up to get out there and go, it's going to end well," said Jessica. "And it's going to end the way we want it to. So I'm excited to get in there and get it done."
Indeed, the night ended the way Allie wanted every "cuff and stuff" to end: No broken nails.

So, there was a film shoot going on at my stable, and they wanted to use Ghost in a shot. I can't say she was the -most- cooperative (they wanted her standing in the middle of some cross-ties in the aisle, but she kept swinging her butt over to the stalls- I think so she could angle her body and see what was going on behind her), but they seemed happy with her, and she got lots of compliments on how beautiful she was, and overall, was a good champ for so much activity going on around her.
The name of the movie might change, but for now, it's "Goodnight Moon." It was a fun, and definitely a "only in LA!" experience!
